Introduction

Does everybody have body language? Yes, everyone has body language. Body language is the term for communication using body movements or gestures instead of, or in addition to, sounds, verbal language or other communication. (Wikipedia) Body language or non verbal communication is a more authentic form of communication than verbal communication.
Non verbal communication involves those nonverbal stimuli in a communication setting that are generated by both the source (speaker) and his or her use of the environment; the potential message has value for the source or receiver (listener).

People do not generally use body language consciously. Instead, gestures and body language are automatic responses to others in the environment. (Body language communicates both responses positive and negative). A person can say one thing but his/her body language is saying something different. For example, thumbs up are signal positive but shaking the head side to side negative. For example if your boss tells an employee to do something that he/she does not want to do, the persons mouth says ‘yes” but if the person is tapping his/her foot ad shaking his/her leg, the contradictable may say signals may confuse the boss. The way a person looks at others, the way he/she stands, and the way he/she gesture is often automatic or unconscious.
There are many types of body languages in the world. Every culture has different ways of expressing itself through gestures and non verbal communication. Humans instinctively know what a person is feeling by how he/she looks or gestures.

Part 1

The wonderful thing about body language is that no matter where one travels body language is a universal phenomenon. Emotional body language, closed up body language, romantic body language, relaxed body language, and open body language, are some of the main types of body language. Body language can communicate the following ideas; real interest in caring about a person (so much but they do not know how to say it), and or identifying feelings, where some one does not realize that they even have feelings for some one else. Body language can also be used in demonstrating one’s power, to show feelings of comfort, ease and attraction to others.

Different cultures think different things with hand a gesture, looking in the eye are or is not acceptable same.Little touches are what you see in a relationship. Little touches lie caressing the face; where someone is cupping the partner’s face in your hands is a sign of strong feeling. “It’s not something that you decide to do; it just happens in an outpouring of emotion” (Whiffen). This is a way to show a person partner that they care about them. Looking in their eyes is letting them know that they are more than their lover but also a great friend. These are some of the things that human do to show there love for one other. Love is a have strong thing that is in every body life and we show it in so many ways. People commonly express love using both verbal and nonverbal messages. In the study by Shaver et al (1987), the love prototype included emotions such as love, passion, affection and desire.

Each person’s body is unique, but all people share some common gesture in body language. For example, students might not get in trouble for what they say but for how they stand, the way they look and how they gesture. “That’s why people who are adept at reading body language are often more successful in relationship,” say Jan Hargraue a body language expert and author of Let Me See Your Body Talk.

Part 2

The body parts that people use like the head, the way you hold it tells something about what one is thinking or feeling. The chest communicates something if it is held in or out. The most important part that shows the most body language is the eyes; the eyes can tell so much especially when a person is lying. When a person lies they do not want to look directly into the other person’s eyes. The eyes are windows that look into a person’s soul, which makes it difficult to lie to the people that you care for the most.

Here are some of the types of body language that people recognize. The way the body acts and reacts to different types of people. There are different types of body language including, romantic body language which has a lot to do with signaling to a person of the opposite sex that you are interested in partnering with them. Open and closed body language indicates that you are signaling a change in the way people are thinking or feeling, which is likely to be in response to what the other person has said or done.(Changing Minds) Powerful body combination of strength and humanity.

Consistent eye contact can indicate that a person is thinking positively of what the speaker is saying. It can also mean that the other person doesn't trust the speaker enough to "take his eyes off" the speaker. Lack of eye contact can indicate negativity. (Wikipedia) Eye contact is often a secondary and misleading gesture because we are taught from an early age to make eye contact when speaking. If a person is making eye contact but is making the arms-across-chest signal, the eye contact could be indicative that something is bothering the person, and that he wants to talk about it.

Non-verbal behavior plays a most important role in social life. Inn every form of humans interaction a large potion of the signals people send or receive, either consciously or unconsciously, are non-verbal even when the communication appears to be a primarily verbal exchange.( Body Language In Literature) The vast majority of the message content in virtually all messages

Part 3

In the Namaste cultural there right hand go over there heart then to there mouth then to the head and then to the side, well saying salaam, and all this mean to them is showing respect for each other. Thumps up to Americans d job, but to people in the Middle East that mean up yours, the peace sign to American means bye, but to the people in England up yours to. The ok sign to American means good job, and that they did it. But to the people in Brazil that o means something very obscene. Moving your finger to your self means you want some one to come here, but to the people in Japan that is all so obscene gesture. So when people see one thing that also might mean something different.

Conclusion

Body language is universal. Everyone has body language; one is born with it. It is expressed differently from culture to culture, but the innate use of it is common to all humans on the planet. This form of nonverbal communication is of paramount importance because it is the most pure of all human expressions. One must have awareness and be knowledgeable in understanding body language to successfully maneuver in today’s complex digital society. In this era of so many forms of non-personal communication for example the wide spread use of like texting on cell phones, the human interaction is severely diminished. One spends an estimated ninety percent of verbal communication texting, instead of standing face to face talking. With all of this actual human contact eliminated the importance of nonverbal communication and of understanding it is greatly increased.

Communication between cultures can be difficult and confusing because of complexities in language; however, with the use of body language, messages become clearer and easily translated because most body language is universal. Facial expressions are a primary example of the globalization of non verbal communication, because humans primitively and inherently react to varying facial expressions. A smile in any language or corner of the world means happiness and is welcomed, while a frown in any context is more omniscient and troubling to an observer. Body posture also claims universal meaning; a tall posture with shoulders tilted back exudes confidence while slumped shoulders do not. Personal interactions between separate nations and cultures can become extremely frustrating; however, if the signs of body language are utilized, understandings can be reached without extensive study of any language other than the instinct we as humans are born with. The cultures of the world may contrast greatly, but it is the human form and primitive body language which connects the globe.
